How to Top Up a Friend's Steam Wallet as a Gift
Steam wallet money is one of the easiest gifts for a gamer: they pick the game themselves. All you need is your friend's login name.
Gift Steam money in four steps
- Ask your friend for the login name from their Account details page. Ask them to copy and paste it.
- Ask which currency their balance shows (₸, ₴ or $) so you can pick the right amount.
- Enter their login and the dollar amount, then press Buy.
- Tell them to check the balance next to their profile name. Your order page shows Delivered.
Choosing the amount
For a specific game, use the game's price in your friend's currency and add a small margin for the rate. For a general gift, round amounts such as $10, $20 or $50 are popular, and the friend sees the converted value in their own currency.
Keep it safe for both of you
- Never ask a friend for their password or Steam Guard code; the login name is enough.
- Copy and paste the login rather than typing it.
- Check the price on the button before confirming.
