Steam top up by login: full FAQ

Detailed answers for players, gift senders and resellers: Steam login names, wallet currencies, prices, crypto credit, delivery and account safety.

Steam login and accounts

What do I need to top up a Steam wallet?
Only the Steam login name of the account (the account name typed on the Steam sign-in screen) and the amount in dollars. We never ask for the password, a Steam Guard code, an email address or a trade link, and nobody from SteamTopup will ever ask for them.
Is the Steam login the same as the profile name?
No. The profile name (nickname) is what friends see and anyone can pick the same one. The login name is unique, cannot be changed and is shown at the top of the Account details page in Steam. Top-ups always go by the login name. See how to find your Steam login.
Where do I find my Steam login name?
Open Steam, click your profile name in the top right corner and choose Account details. The page title reads "<login>'s account". You can also open store.steampowered.com/account in a browser where you are signed in. The login is the word before "'s account".
Can I use a SteamID, profile link or custom URL instead of the login?
No. A SteamID64, a steamcommunity.com profile link and a custom URL all identify a profile, while the top-up is credited to an account by its login name. Paste the login name only: Latin letters, digits and underscores, at least 3 characters.
Which Steam accounts can be topped up?
Accounts whose Steam store country is Kazakhstan, Ukraine, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Moldova, Tajikistan or Turkmenistan. Kazakhstan wallets are in tenge, Ukraine wallets in hryvnia, and the other seven use Steam's CIS U.S. dollar pricing, so their wallets are in dollars. See the regions page.
Can I top up a friend's Steam account?
Yes. Enter your friend's login name instead of yours. Ask them to copy it from their Account details page, because a single wrong character sends the dollars to a different account. A wallet top-up is a simple way to give a friend money for a game, a sale or in-game items.
Can I top up a brand new Steam account?
Yes. Before the first top-up, open the Steam store once from the country the account belongs to and check that the store shows the right currency. Steam sets the wallet currency with the first purchase or top-up, so a small first top-up is a good start. Our new account guide walks through it.
Does a top-up change my Steam region?
No. A top-up adds money to the existing wallet in the wallet's own currency. We do not choose, change or advise on the account region; the Steam Subscriber Agreement does not allow hiding your real location.

Amounts, prices and currencies

How much can I add in one order?
From $0.65 to $850 per order, entered in US dollars with cents. You can place several orders in a row. Steam itself keeps a wallet balance cap of about $2,000 or the same value in the wallet currency, so plan large top-ups around it.
How is the price calculated?
Each dollar that lands on the Steam wallet costs $0.8843, rounded to the cent for the whole order. Examples: $5 costs $4.42, $10 costs $8.84, $20 costs $17.69, $50 costs $44.21, $100 costs $88.43. The pricing page lists every common amount. No percentage is added on top of the price shown on the button.
Why is the price lower than the amount I receive?
Our price is set at 75% of the regular market price for login top-ups in these regions, and the dollar amount you choose is what is sent to the wallet. The price on the button is final for the order.
How much lands on a tenge or hryvnia wallet?
You choose dollars and Steam converts them into the wallet currency at its own rate when the money arrives. The form shows an estimate: $10 is about 4,535 ₸ on a Kazakhstan wallet and about 457 ₴ on a Ukraine wallet at the rates of November 4, 2026. The balance can show a slightly different figure, so add a small margin when you top up for a specific game.
How much lands on a USD wallet?
Exactly the dollars you order. Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Moldova, Tajikistan and Turkmenistan wallets are in U.S. dollars, so a $25 order shows $25.00 on the wallet.
Are there any hidden fees?
No fee is added to the order price. When you add credit with crypto, the payment page shows a small network payment fee by amount (from 1% to 5%) before you send anything, and that is the only extra line.

Credit and crypto payments

How do I pay for a Steam top-up?
Orders are paid from your SteamTopup credit. Add credit once with crypto, then place as many top-ups as the credit covers. Every order shows its price in dollars before you confirm.
Which coins can I use?
USDT and USDC on several networks (TRON, BNB Chain, Ethereum, Solana), plus BTC, ETH, BNB, SOL and LTC. The payment page shows the exact amount to send, the address and a QR code.
What is the minimum credit top-up?
$30 per payment ($20 in lower-income countries, detected from your connection), up to $5,000 per payment. Credit stays on your account and has no expiry date.
Is there a bonus for the first credit top-up?
Yes. The first credit top-up gets +20% from $100, +25% from $200, +30% from $300 and +35% from $500. The bonus is added to credit together with the payment.
Why must I send the exact amount?
The last digits of the amount identify your payment. Send the amount shown, to six decimals, on the network shown. If your exchange subtracts a withdrawal fee, add it so the exact amount arrives.
Can I withdraw credit back to a wallet?
Credit is used for Steam top-ups on this site. Any order that cannot be delivered returns its full price to your credit right away, ready for the next order.

Orders and delivery

How fast does the money reach the Steam wallet?
Usually within a few minutes after the order is placed. The Orders page in your account shows the status of every top-up: Processing, then Delivered.
How do I see that the top-up arrived?
Open Steam and look at the wallet balance next to your profile name, or open Account details and check the Store transaction history. The order in your SteamTopup account switches to Delivered at the same time.
What if I entered the wrong login?
Check the login carefully before you confirm. If the login does not exist, the order is not delivered and its full price returns to your credit. If the login belongs to another existing account, the money goes to that account, so copy the login from Account details instead of typing it from memory.
What happens if an order cannot be delivered?
The full price returns to your credit automatically and the order shows Refunded. You can place it again or use the credit for another top-up.
Can I cancel an order?
An order starts processing as soon as it is placed. If it cannot be delivered, the price returns to your credit automatically.

Safety and account

Is it safe to top up Steam by login?
Yes. A login name is public information that only tells us which wallet to fund; it gives no access to the account. That is why the form asks for nothing else. Keep your password and Steam Guard codes private: no real top-up service ever needs them.
How do I create a SteamTopup account?
Press Create account and the page makes an access token for you. Copy it or save it as a .txt file, tick the box and the account is ready. The token is your only sign-in key, so keep it somewhere safe.
I lost my access token. What now?
The token is the only key to the account and we keep only a one-way hash of it, so it cannot be shown again. Keep a copy in a password manager or the .txt file you saved at sign-up.
Is there an API for shops and bots?
Yes. Resellers, Telegram shops and gaming communities can place Steam top-ups from code with a REST API key from the account page. See API for business.
