How to Top Up a New Steam Account the First Time
A new Steam account can be topped up by login like any other. The first top-up also fixes the wallet currency, so a two minute check before ordering keeps everything as expected.
Checklist before the first top-up
- Sign in to Steam from the country the account belongs to and open the store once.
- Check that store prices show the currency you expect: ₸, ₴ or $.
- Open Account details and copy the login name from the page title.
- Optionally add a free game to the library so the account has some store activity.
- Place a small first order, for example $5, then larger ones after it shows on the wallet.
Why a small first order
The first purchase or top-up fixes the wallet currency. A small first order confirms that the wallet uses the currency you expect, and costs only $4.42 for $5. After it arrives, larger orders follow with no surprises.
After the first top-up
- The balance appears next to your profile name.
- Account details shows the store transaction.
- Your SteamTopup order shows Delivered.
- The same login works for every next top-up.
Ready to add money? Open the Steam top-up form, enter the login and the amount, and see the price before you pay. Answers about orders and credit are on the FAQ page.
